This 1850 Plantation Plain house situated on a tree filled corner lot was considered by some to be a tear down. Not us. It had suffered odd additions, the natural sag of time and had too many interior doors separating all that lovely space, but it had abundant charm! The ceilings in the original part of the house were nice and tall, making the rooms a great proportion, the foyer still was its original all wood self and the parlor had thick plaster molding and a gorgeous little fireplace. We re-floored the sad beat up old floors with a broad plank oak that looked true to the house’s age, removed at least four doors to open up public spaces and improve the flow, redid the kitchen and bathrooms and perked up the outside with a much needed new coat of paint. The renovated kitchen got a butcher block island to increase storage and countertop space and create an eat in kitchen area. A huge bookcase was added for even more pantry space. The two upstairs bedrooms got mini splits to add AC and efficient heat to make the upstairs even more cozy than it looks. A fenced in yard for the pooch and a porch swing for a warm evening in this little town completed this sweet reno.
